Options

You can set various advanced options for your search by clicking the ‘Options’ button on the left of the window. You can also open the dialog using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F5.

Ignore Hidden Files

Selecting this means that ZipScan will not search inside an archive file if it has the Hidden attribute set.

Ignore Hidden Directories

When recursively searching directories, the search will not look inside a directory that has the Hidden attribute set.

Ignore System Files

Selecting this means that ZipScan will not search inside an archive file if it has the System attribute set.

Ignore System Directories

When recursively searching directories, the search will not look inside a directory that has the System attribute set.

Ignore Recycle Bin

If you want to ensure that ZipScan does not search inside the recycle bin, set this check.

Ignore Password Protected Archives

Sometimes, ZipScan has to extract files from archives during the search. If those files are password-protected, the program will stop the search and prompt for the password. Choosing this option means that ZipScan will not search password-protected files when performing a text or resource search, so that the search can proceed without user intervention.

Note: These are the circumstances when ZipScan needs to extract files during a search:

· You have selected to ‘Recursively search archives’. ZipScan has found an archive file that is inside another archive file and needs to extract it so it can be searched

· You have chosen to limit the search by including a text or version resource string. ZipScan has found a file inside an archive whose name matches the filename you are searching for and needs to extract the file to check its text or version resources.

Some RAR archive files require a password just to read the names of the files they contain. They will also be ignored if this option is selected.

Ignore File Extensions

ZipScan expects zip files to have a .zip extension. If, for example, you have a zip file that has been renamed to have another file extension, ordinarily ZipScan will not search this file. However, selecting this option means that ZipScan will check every file to see whether it is an archive file. Note, however, that this only applies to files that are stored in directories; files that are stored in other archives will only be searched according to their file extension.

Note:

This option overrides all the settings on the File Extension Settings page.

Selecting this option can make your search considerably slower.

This does not affect InstallShield CAB files as they depend on the archive files not being renamed.
